Congratulations to Oliver and Sarah Sobik on their beautiful wedding day on May 26, 2012! They exchanged their vows at the beautiful Cathedral of St. Andrew’s and held their reception in MacDonald Hall in Little Rock, Arkansas. This couple was so much fun and we had a blast with their bridal party and their families! Oliver is from Germany and Sarah’s dad is from Assyria. Watching the two cultures come together to celebrate was so cool to watch! It is a tradition for Sarah’s family to have portraits made with just the bride and all the individual family groups. I’m pretty sure there were something like 5-6 different languages being spoken, but it was definitely clear how much they all love Oliver and Sarah!
We truly love what we do and are so blessed to be a part of so many couple’s wedding days! As much as we love capturing every detail and emotion, we also love building friendships with our couples. Sometimes that means setting the camera aside for a moment to be a friend when things don’t go as planned and stress is building. Every bride thinks that everyone else’s wedding goes by flawlessly and that they are the only one to have something “go wrong”. This is SOO not true! Something ALWAYS happens and there is no way to plan for it! There just isn’t! This is why we always schedule a buffer hour between pictures and the ceremony. We do this for two reasons. One is we want your wedding day to memorable and relaxing! We want you to be relaxed and not stressed. This is one of the best days of your life, so enjoy it! Two is when something goes wrong like a groomsmen forgot his tux, or the groom forgets the ring, or the dress is missing a crucial hook we have time to take care of it! All of these have happened, but the latter happened to Sarah! When you feel rushed for time it always makes everything just that much worse. We were able to take time, fix the issue, and refocus on the joyful day. This is when knowing when to put the camera aside and be a friend to calm everyone down is so important. Though at the time Sarah was just a little stressed, I’m sure now a month after the wedding she can look back and laugh (well maybe in another month ;)) My point is from looking at all of Oliver and Sarah’s wedding pictures you would like everything was absolutely perfect, and it was… perfectly their own. We hope you enjoy their wedding highlights and we wish Oliver and Sarah a lifetime of happiness together!
